The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) will launch an investigation after Agatha Uvero accused Blackwater guard Paul Desiderio of physical and emotional abuse.,In a statement, the league said it will conduct an inquiry that will shed light on the accusation that Desiderio had done numerous violent acts on his ex-girlfriend, Uvero, during the course of their relationship.,In a series of tweets posted early Wednesday, the 24-year-old model and former University Athletic Association of the Philippines courtside reporter claimed that she was strangled, bit, punched, threw and kicked by the former University of the Philippines star.,She also alleged that she was physically abused while she was pregnant with their child.,,Daily Tribune sources claimed that Desiderio committed the act at around 3 p.m. on 22 May.,“I really hate airing dirty laundry on social media, but I also don’t have it in me anymore to keep quiet just because I know that so many people empower this person, and enable him to be the abuser he is,” said Uvero, who met Desiderio while doing courtside chores for the Fighting Maroons.,The couple got engaged on 8 November 2019 while Uvero announced that they had already separated in a tweet last 3 June.,,“As a go-getter, a woman with a strong personality, I couldn’t admit to myself that I had a lapse of judgment in this man who I defended too many people who told me to avoid.”,“I’m swallowing my pride for my own safety and for my own accountability to not cover up for someone just because of love or fear.”,The league said it will not take the case sitting down.,“The league will conduct an inquiry and hand down its findings and resolution as soon as the facts are clearly established,” the league posted on its social media account.,“We are confident that the Blackwater management will extend its full cooperation and assistance toward ensuring that a just determination is reached.”,Desiderio is not the first PBA star to face domestic abuse.,Over the past three years, the partners of Magnolia standouts Calvin Abueva and Jio Jalalon as well as Rain or Shine bruiser Beau Belga also alleged that they are victims of violence.,“No matter the cause or circumstances, physical and psychological abuse of women, whether in the confines of marriage or not, is inexcusable,” the league said.,“This report deserves to be given serious attention by both the ballclub concerned and the PBA itself.”,
