The relations between China and the Philippines will turn to a new page as the Marcos administration commits to pursuing a friendly policy toward China.,In his opening statement during the courtesy call to Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo on Wednesday, 6 July, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China is ready to work with the Philippines and plan for cooperation between the two countries.,,“With President Marcos being elected, the China-Philippine relationship has turned a new page. We highly appreciate President Marcos’ recent commitment to pursuing a friendly policy toward China and we speak highly of his recent statements that have sent a very positive signal to the outside world,” Wang said.,“These statements include that he has been saying that China is the strongest partner of the Philippines, and he hopes to further deepen and build an even stronger relationship with China,” the Chinese Foreign Minister continued.,He added that China is ready to work with the Philippines in all areas of comprehensive strategic partnership and is confident that the two countries will work together for a new golden era of bilateral relations between the Philippines and China.,“We are ready to work toward that same direction with the Philippines and to plan for our cooperation going forward in all areas of our comprehensive strategic partnership and I am confident that with our two sides working together we can surely open up a new golden era for the bilateral relationship,” Wang added.,Wang said that under the previous administration, China and the Philippines achieved a turnaround, with the cooperation in various fields has become more dynamic, which brought tangible benefits to Chinese and Filipinos despite difficulties.,“During the term of the previous government under the correct strategic guidance from the leadership of top leaders of our two countries, China-Philippine relations overcame all sorts of difficulties and achieved a turnaround and continuously growing forward,” Wang said.,“Our cooperation in various fields and becoming more dynamic. This has brought tangible benefits to both Chinese and the Philippine people,” he continued. .,Secretary Manalo thanked Wang and his delegation for being his first guest since he assumed office on 01 July.,
,Manalo said that China has been the country’s “good friend and close partner” in recovery efforts.,“We find ourselves rebuilding after the pandemic which has ravaged our economy as well as our efforts to reach development goals such as the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals,” he said.,“China has been a good friend and close partner of the Philippines in our recovery efforts and we have stood shoulder-to-shoulder in times of great difficulty, helping one another so that we may both bring progress to our people and nations,” he added.
