SANTA ROSA, Laguna — Chery Tiggo kept its semifinal hopes alive as it booked a 25-22, 25-14, 25-21 win over Petro Gazz in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference Thursday at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex here.,Shaya Adorador delivered while EJ Laure and setter Alina Bicar had a splendid performance for the Crossovers, who finally notched their first win in four games in this mid-season conference.,More than that, the Crossovers sent the Angels to the brink of elimination after suffering their fourth straight loss.,Adorador fired 13 of her 15 points from the attack zone while Laure registered 13 markers and 10 excellent receptions and Mylene Paat tallied 12 hits to help the Crossovers wrap up the match after one hour and 24 minutes of action.,Bicar, who played with Laure at University of Santo Tomas, also did an impressive job distributing the ball, finishing with 14 excellent sets to go with five points for a team that is missing the services of starting setter Jasmine Nabor and star middle blocker Dindin Manabat.,Chery Tiggo coach Clarence Esteban heaved a sigh of relief following the victory that kept their playoff chances alive.,“We’re very grateful for the chance,” said Esteban, who grabbed his first victory as Crossovers mentor after replacing Aaron Velez.,They will face Army on Tuesday before clashing with powerhouse Creamline on 28 July in a rematch of the dramatic Open Conference under a bubble setup in Ilocos Norte last year.,“The team is complete and we were able to execute the plays we wanted in this game here in Laguna.”,Esteban said they will keep on working hard until they make it to the semifinals where foreign teams in Kobe Shinwa Women’s University of Japan and Taipei King Whales of Chinese Taipei will be seeing action.,“We always kept telling them that nothing is impossible,” said Esteban, whose wards produced 53 attack points, which is 15 more than their rivals.,“Anything can be learned and everything can be worked for. We just need to work together and do well together and we’re sure to get the win.”,Seasoned opposite Aiza Maizo-Pontillas was the lone bright spot as she registered all her 12 points from attacks for the Angels, who had a dismal performance after emerging as bridesmaid to Creamline in the Open Conference last April.,Chie Saet tallied 18 excellent sets but couldn’t get the job done in the second set as top hitters like Myla Pablo, MJ Phillips and Gretchel Soltones struggled, allowing the Crossovers to gain momentum heading into the deciding juncture.,The Angels will face Cignal on Tuesday before wrapping up their eliminations campaign against Choco Mucho on 30 July.
