Senator JV Ejercito on Tuesday, 5 July, urged President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to go after vehicle owners who are abusing the use of blinkers, and emergency sirens or “wang-wang.”,“I hope PBBM bans the use of blinkers, sirens, and escorts that use sirens,” Ejercito said in a recent post on Twitter.,He pointed out that under the law, only high-ranking officials such as the President, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker of the House, and Supreme Court Justice are entitled to a motorcycle escort convoy.,The returning senator pointed out that the policy against the use of blinkers and sirens was enforced during the time of late President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.,“It was done during PNoy’s time. It looks like it is in trend now,” he said.,In a radio interview, Ejercito also said there was already a law that prohibits the use of emergency sirens which was enacted during the time of Bongbong’s father late strongman Ferdinand Marcos Sr.,The lawmaker expressed his belief that it was just a “matter of implementation.”,“That’s why I hoped PBBM will revive it because it was done during the time of PNoy. If the President orders it, that is already a policy, and everyone will follow,” he added.,In his inaugural address in 2010, then President Aquino announced a ban on unauthorized use of blaring car sirens, which was usually being practiced by government officials to get ahead of others when traveling.
